A glass fiber sensor (3) for measuring an electrical current, the glass fiber core being a heavy flint glass having its composition modified by the addition to the glass composition of a source of a selected rare earth ion, whereby the Verdet constant value of the glass is reduced without unduly increasing the value of the photoelastic coefficient.
L'invention concerne un détecteur (3) à fibre de verre permettant de mesurer un courant électrique, l'âme de la fibre de verre étant constituée d'un verre flint-glass lourd dont on a modifié la composition par addition, dans la composition du verre, d'une source d'un ion des terres rares choisi, ce qui permet de réduire la constante de Verdet du verre sans pour autant trop augmenter le coefficient photoélastique.
