ABSTRACT Roofing products including a novel glass fiber mat with fibers having a length of about 1/4 inch to 3 inches and a diameter of about 3 to 20 mm., the mat including about 70% to 90% glass fibers and about 10% to 30% binder to hold the fibers together, and where- in the mat has a thickness of about 0.1 mm. to 3 mm. and a basis weight of abou 20 g./m2 to 200 g./m2. These roofing mats exhibit excellent tensile strength in both the machine and cross machine directions, and thus show improved properties in built-up roofing membranes and ply sheets.
