ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Glass jar for food or the like of the type having threaded top portion for securing to the top a cap. The threaded portion is prevented from hitting the threaded portion of another jar, e.g. during the conveying of the jars through a filling station, due to the provision of peripheral protru- sions on the outside of the jar whereby damage to the thread by splintering off a portion of the jar thread by the impact is prevented, as the glasses impact each other by a section different from that of the thread.
