A device for treating glaucoma in an eye is described. The device (1) includes a body (3) defining a lumen and having first (7) and second (9) ends and external and lumenal surfaces, wherein the body has a length sufficient to provide fluid communication between an anterior chamber and tear film of the eye through the lumen when the device is implanted in the sclera. The device further includes a filter (11) capable of providing outflow resistance to aqueous humor flowing through the lumen. Methods of treating glaucoma wherein the device is implanted in the sclera of an afflicted eye are also described.

Cette invention se rapporte à un dispositif servant au traitement d'un glaucome oculaire. Ce dispositif (1) comprend un corps (3) définissant une lumière et présentant une première (7) et une seconde (9) extrémité ainsi que des surfaces externe et luminale. Ce corps est d'une longueur suffisante pour permettre une communication de fluide entre la chambre antérieure et le film lacrymal de l'oeil par la lumière lorsque le dispositif est implanté dans la sclérotique. Ce dispositif comprend également un filtre (11) pouvant assurer une résistance d'écoulement à l'encontre du liquide organique aqueux s'écoulant dans la lumière. Cette invention concerne également des méthodes de traitement de glaucome selon lesquelles le dispositif est implanté dans la sclérotide d'un oeil souffrant.
