ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A glazing or calendering roll comprises a roll body having a flange journal at each end of the roll body and peripheral passages formed near the roll surface in the roll body for conducting a fluid heat or cold carrier through the roll. The roll has a central bore with large diameter, and in said central bore a displacement body is arranged in such a manner that between the inner wall of the central bore and the outer wall of the displacement body an annular gap is formed for conducting the fluid heat or cold carrier therethrough.
