GLAZING STRIP ABSTRACT A glazing strip for windows, curtain walls or the like comprises a resilient reinforcing member having an elastomeric material extruded over and covering the reinforcing member. The strip has a retainer portion with a substantially flat glass engaging surface of the elastomeric material and an anchorage base which is insertable into a channel in a frame for a piece of window glass and is removable therefrom only by the application of deliberate force. The retainer portion is laterally spaced from the anchorage base and the reinforcing member extends from a position adjacent the glass engaging surface at a location remote from the anchorage base and then into and along the anchorage base. As a result, when a length of the strip is secured in the channel and in use, the glass engaging surface of the retainer portion will engage on only one side of the piece of window glass located in the frame. The reinforcing member causes this glass engaging surface of the retainer portion to engage the surface of the glass along an edge region with a force of approximately 4-6 pounds weight per linear inch. The arrangement enables the system to accommodate glass or other panels of varying types and thicknesses.
