ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a glow discharge heating apparatus comprising a plurality of discharge electrodes opposing one another through predetermined gaps. A main electric source is connected to the plurality of discharge electrodes to cause successively glow discharges therebetween. Each of the glow discharges supplies thermal energy to the discharge electrode acting as a cathode during the associated glow discharge. An auxiliary electric source controls the glow discharges and a liquid flows through the discharge electrodes to be heated by the thermal energy. A temperature sensor is operatively coupled to a selected one of the discharge electrodes to sense a temperature of the heated liquid and feed a signal representative of the measured temperature to the auxiliary electric source to control the glow discharges and thereby control the temperature of the heated liquid.
