ABSTRACT In order to provide uniform glow plugs for auxiliary heaters for motor vehicles independent of the line voltage (e.g. 12 volts or 24 volts) without having to use multiplier resistors with certain line voltages, a glow plug has two heating rods and three electrical terminals, so that depending on the line voltage the heating rods can be connected in parallel with a 12 volt device or in series with a 24 volt device and always the same electrical and thermal output is generated. 11
