A modified glucose dehydrogenase characterized in that, in a water soluble glucose dehydrogenase accompanied by pyrrolo-quinoline quinone as the coenzyme thereof, one or more amino acid residues in a specific region have been substituted by other amino acid residues. This water soluble PQQGDH has an improved heat stability.
