ABSTRACT A glue applicator for a labelling machine has a gluing roll and a glue blade which is adjustable in relation to the roll surface and which determines the thickness of the layer of glue to be applied. A glue feeder precedes the glue blade as seen in the direction of rotation of the gluing roll, and a glue scraper is adapted to bear against the periphery of the gluing roll. The glue scraper is arranged between the glue feeder and the glue blade and a hollow concave supporting surface is provided to accommodate a column of glue, in the vicinity of the cutting edge of the glue scraper.
