A glyceride compound comprising a first aliphatic group and a first substituent group bonded to said first aliphatic group. The first substituent group has the formula -O(CH2CH2O)nP where n is 1 to 14 and P is a polymerisable group. An aqueous emulsion of the glyceride can be used in an emulsion polymerisation reaction to yield a polymer resin, which can then be mixed with a suitable base material, such as wood strands, to produce a composite material, such as Oriented Strand Board.

Le premier groupe substituant est de formule -O(CH2CH2O)nP dans laquelle n va de 1 à 14 et P représente un groupe polymérisable. Une émulsion aqueuse du glycéride peut être utilisée lors d~une réaction de polymérisation en émulsion afin de produire une résine polymère, laquelle peut être mélangée avec un matériau de base approprié, par exemple des copeaux de bois allongés, de manière à produire un matériau composite tel que des panneaux à copeaux orientés.
