Staphylococcal and Enterrococcal glycoconjugate vaccines are disclosed for use in preventing or treating bacterial infection in an immune-compromised individual. Such vaccines contain an immunocarrier and a conjugate of a polysaccharide or glycopeptide surface antigen from a clinically-significant bacterial strain. The vaccines can be used for active protection in immune- compromised individuals who are to be subjected to conditions that place them at immediate risk of developing a bacterial infection, as would be case in the context of a catheterization or a surgical procedure.
L'invention concerne des vaccins glycoconjugués staphylococciques et enterrococciques destinés à être utilisés pour la prévention ou le traitement d'une infection bactérienne chez un individu immunocompromis. Ces vaccins contiennent un support immunitaire et un conjugué d'un antigène d'enveloppe polysaccharidique ou glycopeptidique issu d'une souche bactérienne significative du point de vue clinique. Les vaccins de l'invention peuvent être utilisés pour assurer une protection active à des individus immunocompromis auxquels doivent être appliqués des critères qui les considèrent comme étant en danger immédiat de développer une infection bactérienne, comme cela serait le cas dans le cadre d'une procédure de cathétérisation ou d'une intervention chirugicale.
