A glycoprotein which is prepared by chemically treating an extract from mycelium, broth or fruit body of a fungus belonging to Coriolus, and has following physicochemical properties: a molecular weight determined by gel chromatography being 5,000 to 1,000,000; a ratio (proteins/sugars) of an amount of proteins determined by Lowry-Folin method to an amount of sugars determined by phenol-sulfate method being 0.7 to 5.0; and 1?3 glucan accounting for 18 to 100 % in glucans in sugars is disclosed. The glycoprotein is effective to a malignant tumor, or a disease which an immune system or a growth factor is implicated in.
