A cancer marker nucleic acid which is hybridizable with the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or a base sequence complementary thereto under stringent conditions; and a method of testing canceration wherein a biological sample is judged as cancerous in the case of showing a significantly higher transcriptional level of the above nucleic acid than that in a normal biological sample employed as a control. A .beta.1,3-N-acetyl-D-glucosamine transferase protein having an activity of transferring N-acetyl-D-glucosamine from a donor substrate to a receptor substrate via a .beta.1,3-bond.
L'invention concerne un acide nucléique marqueur du cancer, pouvant s'hybrider avec la séquence de base représentée par SEQ. ID NO : 1 ou avec une séquence de base complémentaire associée dans des conditions strictes ; et une méthode de test de cancérisation dans laquelle un échantillon biologique est évalué comme étant cancéreux s'il présente un niveau transcriptionnel de l'acide nucléique susmentionné nettement plus élevé que celui d'un échantillon biologique normal utilisé comme témoin. L'invention concerne également une protéine de .beta.1, 3-N-acétyl-D-glucosamine transférase présentant une activité de transfert de N-acétyl-D-glucosamine à partir d'un substrat donneur vers un substrat récepteur via une liaison .beta.1,3.
