Disclosed herein is a golf ball (8) and method for making the same. The golf ball (8) has an ionomeric cover (16) which includes a high melt ionomer having a Vicat softening temperature of 74 degrees C or more (preferably 80 "o"C or more, more preferably, 84 "o"C or more) and a melt temperature of 96 "o"C or more (preferably 98 "o"C or more, and most preferably 100 "o"C or more). Additionally, the high melt ionomer utilized in the invention exhibits a difference in melt temperature and Vicat temperature of 25 "o"C or less (preferably 19 "o"C or less, more preferably, 17 "o"C or less). The golf ball cover (16) is superior in heat resistance to a conventional cover but is otherwise substantially identical in composition.

L'invention concerne une balle (8) de golf et un procédé de fabrication associé. Ladite balle (8) possède une enveloppe (16) ionomère comprenant un ionomère à indice de fusion élevé présentant un point Vicat d'au moins 74 DEG C (de préférence au moins 80 DEG C, mieux encore au moins 84 DEG C) et un point de fusion d'au moins 96 DEG C (de préférence au moins 98 DEG C et idéalement au moins 100 DEG C).
