An improved golf ball injection mold is characterized by upper and lower support plates each containing corresponding hemispherical cavities which definespherical mold cavities when the plates are brought together. A plurality of retractable core pins are arranged in each cavity for supporting a core of a golf ball. A runner within the plates delivers fluid thermoplastic material to each cavity to form a cover on the golf ball core supported therein, and a cooling channel is provided adjacent to each cavity to provide even cooling of the thermoplastic material. Independently operated ejection assemblies are provided for the golf ball and for the residual thermoplastic material in the runner. With the improved ejection mold, the size and roundness of the golf ball and the surface configuration of the golf ball cover are more consistent and the molding time is reduced.
La présente invention a pour objet un moule à injection amélioré pour le moulage de balles de golf. Le moule en question est caractérisé par des plaques de support supérieure et inférieure, chacune comportant des cavités hémisphériques qui définissent des cavités sphériques lorsque réunies. Une pluralité d'aiguilles servant à soutenir le noyau sont disposées à l'intérieur de chaque cavité. Un canal de coulée aménagé à l'intérieur des plaques assure la distribution du matériau thermoplastique en fusion vers chacune des cavités pour former une enveloppe autour de chacun des noyaux immobilisés en leur centre; une canalisation de liquide de refroidissement est aménagée au voisinage immédiat de chacune des cavités afin d'assurer un refroidissement uniforme du matériau thermoplastique. Des dispositifs d'éjection indépendants assurent l'éjection des balles de golf et l'évacuation des résidus de matériau thermoplastique à l'intérieur du canal de coulée. Le moule à injection amélioré assure une meilleure constance au niveau des caractéristiques dimensionnelles, de sphéricité et de configuration superficielle, en plus de réduire les temps de moulage.
