Golf club head (3, 20) consisting of thin walls defining a front part comprising a striking surface (5, 22), a sole (6, 23) and a rear part (7; 24-26) above the sole (6, 23), defining a cavity at the rear of said front part and comprising a damping element. The golf club head is characterized in that at least one of the thin walls has a protruding damping element (10, 35) consisting of a stress plate (11, 36) having a high modulus of elasticity and attached to the rear part (7; 23-26) by a visco-elastic material (12, 37). Application in irons and woods.
