A system and method (10) for the calculation and maintenance of a golfer's handicap index. A method for the maintenance of a golf handicap index by providing a card (18) containing golfer information. The golfer information includes posted scores which are used in the calculation of a handicap index. A local processing unit (10), LPU, computes the handicap index based on USGA established guidelines. Information is exchanged between the card (18) and LPU (10) at the time the golfer posts a score. Handicap indexes are updated based at least in part on the entered scores on a schedule consistent with USGA guidelines.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé (10) de calcul et de suivi du handicap d'un golfeur. Un procédé permet d'assurer un suivi du handicap de golf au moyen d'une carte (18) portant des informations relatives à un golfeur particulier.
