2076045 9112859 PCTABS00007 A golf putter (10) includes a putter head (16) formed of a novel composition including a portion of polytetrafluoroethylene resin on the face (26) of the putter head (16) to minimize friction between the putter (10) and the golf ball (50). The entire putter head (16) may be formed of an alloy including a portion of polytetrafluoroethylene resin. The putter (10) includes a shaft (14) which is connected to the putter head (16) whereby a line extending along the surface (56) of the shaft (14) corresponding to the face (26) hangs vertically when the putter (10) is suspended by the grip (12) in the manner of a pendulum. Additionally, the putter head (16) is provided with at least one alignment line (22) along the top surface of the putter head (16), the alignment line (22) being perpendicular to the face (26) of the head (16). The shaft (14) is connected to the head (16) at a region of intersection lying in the alignment line (22), the portion (20) of the shaft (14) adjacent the region of intersection being coated with material of a color corresponding to the color of the alignment line (22).
