A vascular access device, for implantation at least partially below the skin of a patient to provide an arteriovenous fistula, includes a graft portion coupled to a catheter portion. The graft portion is sutured to an opening in an artery while the catheter portion is inserted into a vein so that its end lies within the vein downstream from the point of entry into the vein. The device may be comprised of ePTFE with an outer polyurethane coating or the graft portion may comprise ePTFE with an outer polyurethane coating and the catheter portion may comprise polyurethane. There may also be an inner polyurethane coating. Alternatively, the device may be comprised entirely of polyurethane.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'accès vasculaire, qui peut être implanté au moins partiellement sous la peau d'un patient, en vue de former une fistule artérioveineuse. Ce dispositif comprend une partie greffe couplée à une partie cathéter. La partie greffe est suturée à une ouverture dans une artère alors que la partie cathéter est insérée dans une veine de manière à ce que son extrémité repose en aval de la veine depuis le point d'entrée dans la veine. Le dispositif peut être composé de PTFE expansé recouvert d'une couche extérieure de polyuréthanne ou alors la partie greffe peut être composée de PTFE expansé et recouverte d'une couche extérieure de polyuréthanne et la partie cathéter peut être composée de polyuréthanne. On peut également trouver une couche intérieure de polyuréthanne. Le dispositif peut éventuellement être entièrement composé de polyuréthanne.
