The present invention relates to water-soluble, acid groups-con- taining graft copolymers which are at least partially biodegradable and are based on polyhydroxy compounds and monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, sulfonic acids and/or phosphonic acids or the salts of said acids as well as optional further mono- mers. The present invention further relates to a process for pro- ducing said graft copolymers at temperatures of up to 200°C by means of radical polymerization initiators, in that a total mixture is polymerized which consists of 1-60%-wt. of polyhydroxy com- pounds, their derivatives or their mixtures, and 95-40%-wt. of a monomer mixture comprising at least one monoethylenically un- saturated carboxylic acid, at least one monoethylenically unsatu- rated sulfonic acid, one monoethylenically unsaturated sulfuric acid ester and/or vinylphosphonic acid or the salts of said acids with monovalent cations, as well as optional further monomers. The present invention further relates to the use of the graft co- polymers in aqueous systems, for binding multivalent metal ions, inhibiting the water hardness, as additive in detergents and clean- ing agents, as textile auxiliary, dispersing agent, in particular for pigments, and as auxiliary agent in the production of paper and leather.
L'invention concerne des copolymérisats solubles dans l'eau contenant des groupes acides, qui sont au moins partiellement biodégradables, à base de composés polyhydroxy et d'acides carboxyliques, d'acides sulfoniques et/ou d'acides phosphoniques insaturés monoéthyléniquement ou de sels desdits acides, ainsi qu'éventuellement d'autres monomères. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé de préparation de ces copolymérisats greffés à des températures allant jusqu'à 200 ~C, au moyen d'initiateurs de polymérisation par voie radicalaire. On polymérise un mélange global comprenant entre 1 et 60 % en poids de composés polyhydroxy, leurs dérivés ou leurs mélanges et entre 95 et 40 % en poids d'un mélange monomère qui contient au moins un acide carboxylique monoéthyléniquement insaturé, au moins un acide sulfonique monoéthyléniquement insaturé, un ester d'acide sulfurique monoéthyléniquement insaturé et/ou un acide vinylphosphonique ou les sels de ces acides à cations monovalents, ainsi qu'éventuellement d'autres monomères. L'invention concerne en outre l'utilisation des copolymérisats greffés dans des systèmes aqueux, pour lier des ions métal multivalents, pour inhiber la dureté de l'eau, comme additifs dans des détergents et des nettoyants, comme produits auxiliaires textiles, comme agents de dispersion, notamment pour des pigments, ainsi que comme adjuvants dans la fabrication du papier et dans la préparation du cuir.
