The present invention relates to water-soluble, acid-groups-containing graft copolymers which are at least partially biodegradable and are based on sugars and monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, sulfonic acids and/or phosphonic acids or the salts of said acids as well as optional further monomers. The present invention further relates to a process for producing the graft copolymers at temperatures of up to 200°C by means of radical polymerization initiators, in that a total mixture of 5-60%-wt. mono-, di- and oligosaccharides, the derivatives thereof or the mixtures thereof, and 95-40%-wt. of a monomer mixture comprising at least one monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, at least one monoethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid, one monoethylenically unsaturated sulfuric acid ester and/or vinylphosphonic acid or the salts of said acids with monovalent cations, as well as optional further monomers is polymerized. The present invention further relates to the use of the graft copolymers in aqueous systems, for binding multivalent metal ions, inhibiting the water hardness, as additive in detergents and cleaning agents, as textile auxiliary, dispersing agent, in particular for pigments, and as auxiliary agent in the production of paper and leather.

L'invention concerne des copolymères greffés solubles dans l'eau, contenant des groupes acides et présentant au moins une biodégradabilité partielle, à la base de sucres et d'acides carboxyliques monoéthyléniquement insaturés, d'acides sulfoniques et/ou d'acides phosphoniques, ou les sels desdits acides, ainsi que d'autres monomères le cas échéant. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé de fabrication de ces copolymères greffés à des températures allant jusqu'à 200 C, au moyen d'initiateurs de polymérisation radicaux. Un mélange global de 5 à 60 % en poids de mono-, de di- et d'olygosaccharides, de leurs dérivés et de leurs mélanges et de 95 à 40 % en poids d'un mélange monomère qui contient au moins un acide carboxylique monoéthyléniquement insaturé, au moins un acide sulfonique monoéthyléniquement insaturé, un ester d'acide sulfurique monoéthyléniquement insaturé et/ou un acide vinylphosphonique ou les sels de ces acides avec des cations monovalents, ainsi que d'autres monomères le cas échéant, est polymérisé. L'invention concerne en outre l'utilisation des copolymères greffés dans les systèmes aqueux, comme additifs à des détergents et à des nettoyants, comme adjuvants textiles, agents dispersants, notamment pour des pigments, ainsi que comme adjuvants dans la fabrication de papier et de cuir.
