A grain distribution apparatus is disclosed for connection to one or more grain sources and for providing distribution among a plurality of outlet ducts. In one embodiment a cylindrical housing contains a distribution spout rotatably movable among discharge positions at each receiving duct. A control wheel connected to the spout functions as a drive sprocket to rotate the spout to a selected discharge position. Inductively differentiated code clusters on a coded portion of the control wheel function in association with inductive sensors fixed adjacent to the control wheel to generate position indicating signals as the distribution spout and the attached control wheel are rotated among the receiving ducts. Each discharge position has a unique code cluster to provide absolute position control. That is, the location of the spout is positively identified independently at each code cluster. A drive means connected to a drive sprocket eccentric to the control wheel/drive sprocket engages a double-wide drive chain wrapped around and stationary on the entire circumference of the control wheel. A control processor connected to the drive means and the inductive sensors monitors and controls the positioning of the distribution spout.
