ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of drying grain is disclosed together with a grain drier system that includes a section in which ambient air is heated by an open flame and passed through the grain to accomplish drying and a section in which cool air is subsequently passed through the heated grain to cool it. The method comprises col- lecting the cooling air after it has passed through the heated grain and become heated, passing the ambient air in a stream through the flame and introducing the collected, heated cooling air in a stream which is disposed on the periphery of the stream ambient air as it flows past the flame, thereby minimizing contact of the heated cooling air with the flame.
