The invention provides a plastic float inside a grain storage bin. The float is a rounded cylinder having a projecting fin, and an internal mercury switch in a circuit including an external signal light fixture. The float is suspended from the storage bin roof at a height sufficient to allow the operator loading the bin to shut off the loading equipment on actuation of the signal light. When the grain in the bin reaches the float it is pushed away and the fin is rotated closing the mercury switch and actuating the signal light. This allows the operator to make full use of grain bin storage capacity without spillage, and without climbing ladders to assess bin utilization. In effect the invention gives the operator ground eye level access to the top of the bin.
