ABSTRACT A grain separating mechanism suitable for use in a combine harvester comprising a number of longitudinally extending crop support members (5) that are provided with crop engaging formations along their upper edges (8) and are oscillated longitudinally to move crop rearwards along their length, and a number of elongate crop agit- ation members (11) each of which is connected to the crop support members (5) so as to project longitudinally there- from beneath the crop and each of which is adapted so that it resonates with a lateral movement in response to longitudinal oscillation of the crop support members (5). Said agitation members (11) are preferably resilient sheet members that project rearwards and are loaded at their free ends. Said sheet members (11) are preferably arranged upright and inclined from the vertical plane.
