GRANULAR BED FILTER Abstract of the Disclosure The filter apparatus includes a plurality of hollow filter chambers each including a filter bed whose volume greatly exceeds the volume of the granular filter material such as sand. The beds are backwashed by a steady flow of low pres- sure air sufficient to fluidize the beds.
