A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery obtained by integrating a mixture of a graphite particle and an organic binder together with a current collector is provided. The graphite particle has an aspect ratio of 1.2 to 5 and a crystallite size Lc in a c-axis direction of crystal (002) of 1,000 to 100,000 .ANG., and the mixture of graphite particle and an organic binder after integration with pressing has a density of 1.5 to 1.9 g/cm3. The lithium secondary battery with the negative electrode is excellent in, for example, but not limited to, rapid charge-discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics.
