Grapple Head Arrangement Abstract A compact grapple head for use in apparatus such as a logging vehicle is provided. Prior art grapple heads had a relatively substantial height which put the load input point at a disadvantageous position which in turn decreased the load carrying capacity of the vehicle. The grapple head has a reduced overall height and utilizes four pivot connections in controlling the tongs thereof. The arrangement of the pivot connections relative to the tongs, an extensible device and an interconnecting link provides an improved load-handling capability both as to maximum and minimum loads. Each of the extensible device and link is connected between the tongs with one of the pivotal connections connecting both of the tongs and a second pivotal connection connecting both the extensible device and the other of the tongs to the frame.
