-21- GRAVITY - MAGNETIC ORE SEPARATORS Abstract A gravity-magnetic ore separator for concen- trating magnetic or weakly magnetic minerals having a relatively high specific gravity is disclosed. The ore separator utilizes codirectional magnetic and gravita- tional forces to achieve separation capabilities in excess of that which can be achieved using gravity forces alone. Typically, the gravity-magnetic ore separator is formed by retrofitting a conventional gravity separator such as a spiral, cone, pinched sluice, etc. with magnets so as to enhance the separation capability of the conventional gra- vitational ore separator. Means are provided to prevent - build up of magnetic material on the surface over which the ore flows.
