To develop a novel gravure printing form, which is simple to produce and is highly suitable with respect to a variation of formats, the invention discloses the use of a steel carrier sleeve in the form of a master sleeve. The initial form of said sleeve is a rectangular plate with a wall thickness of between 0.1 mm and 0.4 mm, which is given the desired hollow cylindrical form by bending, the opposing edges of the plate being permanently joined together, in particular by welding. A copper gravure layer is applied to the outer surface of the plate, a basic grid being etched into the copper gravure layer by means of a laser gravure process. The basic grid is then uniformly filled with a liquefiable substance to form the gravure printing form and the filler material is removed from the depressions of the basic grid to produce the required image.

L'objectif de l'invention est de mettre au point une nouvelle forme en creux simple à fabriquer et bien adaptée en particulier par rapport à la variabilité des formats. A cet effet, on utilise un manchon support en acier sous forme de manchon maître, qui se présente au départ sous la forme d'une plaque rectangulaire présentant une épaisseur de paroi comprise entre 0,1 mm et 0,4 mm, cintrée jusqu'à l'obtention de la forme cylindrique creuse souhaitée, dont les bords se faisant face sont solidement reliés, en particulier soudés, l'un à l'autre et dont la surface extérieure est revêtue d'une couche de cuivre de gravure dans laquelle une trame de base est formée par gravure au laser, ladite trame de base étant remplie d'une substance fluidifiable de façon uniforme pour permettre la réalisation de la forme en creux et la substance de remplissage étant enlevée des creux de la trame de base selon les images.
