ABSTRACT An interlock for a security grille has a insulated electrical housing which is directly mounted on a guide utilized to support the security grille. The mounting of the insulated housing is near the path of travel of the locking mechanism for the grille. An electro-mechanical switch mounted in the housing has a contact protruding from the housing into the path of the locking mechanism. The contact is engaged an disengaged by the locking mechanism. The electro-mechanical switch connected to the operating motor for the grille to disable the motor when the grille is locked and enable the motor for operation when the grille is unlocked thereby preventing damage to the motor by attempting its operation when the grille is locked.
