Abstract of the Disclosure Granular blast furnace slag is interground with amine salts of aromatic group-containing carboxylic acids to enhance the efficiency of the grinding operation. In a preferred embodiment, a mixture of aromatic group-containing carboxylic acids obtained as a low cost by-product in a commerical process to produce phthalic anhydride, is utilized to prepare the amine salt grinding aid of the invention.
