A grinding machine uses a conical grinding wheel (10) to create a non- circularly symmetric surface (defining, for example, a re-entrant cam) on a workpiece. The machine is operable to rotate such a workpiece about a first axis (5) and the machine has drive means for rotating the conical wheel about a second axis (14). A feeding mechanism brings the wheel into contact with the workpiece to define a line of grinding where the wheel contacts the workpiece (i.e. a cutting line). In use, a rocking movement is imparted to the wheel and spindle relative to the workpiece as the latter rotates so as to maintain the orientation of the cutting line relative to the first axis and of the second axis relative to the cutting line.
L'invention porte sur une rectifieuse qui utilise une roue une meule conique (10) pour créer une surface symétrique non circulaire (formant, par exemple, une came rentrante) sur une pièce. La rectifieuse fait tourner une pièce autour d'un premier axe (5) et possède un dispositif d'entraînement qui fait tourner la meule autour d'un second axe (14). Un mécanisme d'alimentation met la meule en contact avec la pièce de façon é former une ligne de meulage sur la quelle la meule vient en contact avec la pièce (c.-à-d.- une ligne de découpe). En utilisation, un mouvement de bascule est conféré à la meule et à la broche par rapport à la pièce au moment où cette dernière tourne de façon à maintenir l'orientation de la ligne de découpe par rapport au premier axe et l'orientation du second axe par rapport à la ligne de découpe.
