GRINDING MILL DRUM STRUCTURE AND SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a grinding mill such as a semi-autogenous or autogenous grinding mill having a horizontally rotatably grinding drum there is provided one or more beams extending longitudinally between the heads of the mill drum, to modify the interaction of the drum contents with the drum. In one embodiment the invention contemplates a plurality of beams secured between the heads and extending substantially parallel with the drum main axis. Alternative arrangements include one or more beams inclined longitudinally relative to the main axis, or skewed relative thereto. In addition to increasing the energy interaction between pulp and drum, the various embodiments also facilitate control of longitudinal pulp feeding. The problems of installation and replacement are minimized by providing for withdrawal and replacement through one or both of the heads.
