The present invention describes an improved grip belt drive system for use in sealing machines used to wrap articles in thermoplastic film. Briefly, a timing belt is used in place of the traditional flat or V belt. The presence of teeth on the pulleys, coupled with the use of a timing belt eliminates the possibility of slippage between the belt and the pulleys. To protect the system in the case of a film jam or misplaced article, a torque- limiting mechanism is included, which disengages the drive system if there is excessive counterforce . Furthermore, the outer surface of timing belt contains a pattern, which when mated with a second belt having the same or a complementary pattern, meshes in such a way so that the two belts are positively locked in both the longitudinal and transverse directions.
L'invention concerne un système d'entraînement de courroie amélioré à utiliser dans des scelleuses conçues pour envelopper des articles dans un film thermoplastique. Selon l'invention, une courroie crantée est utilisée à la place des courroies plates ou en V classiques. La présence de dents sur les poulies et l'utilisation d'une courroie crantée permettent de réduire au minimum la possibilité de glissement entre la courroie et les poulies. Afin de protéger ledit système en cas de blocage du film ou du mauvais placement d'un article, un mécanisme de limitation de couple est utilisé pour dégager le système lorsqu'une force d'opposition trop importante est exercée. En outre, la surface extérieure de la courroie crantée présente un motif, qui s'engrène avec le même motif ou un motif supplémentaire d'une deuxième courroie lorsque celle-ci est appariée avec ladite courroie crantée, de façon que les deux courroies soient verrouillées de manière positive dans les sens longitudinal et transversal.
