A grip element (10) having a soft, compressible and deformable outer layer (20) supported by an underlying support structure (30) sufficiently rigid to maintain a receiving channel (12) of the grip element (10) in an open configuration. The support structure (30) facilitates manipulation of the grip element (10) and assembly of the grip element (10) onto a hand-held article without having the outer layer (20) collapse on itself as would occur without the support structure (30) as a result of the soft, deformable nature of the outer layer (20). The grip element (10) may be formed separately from the hand- held article on which it is to be assembled, and then positioned thereon such that the hand-held aritcle is sold with the grip element (10) pre-assembled thereon. If desired, the grip element (10) may be provided separate from the hand-held article, the outer layer (20) providing a readily compressible and deformable soft cushioning surface and the support structure (30) facilitating insertion of the outer layer (20) over at least a portion of the hand-held article. The outer layer (20) and support structure (30) may be co-molded such that the materials thereof are permanently and directly bonded together. If desired, a pattern (50) may be formed on the outer layer (20), such as grooves, dimples, ribs, bumps, a lattice patern, or a honeycomb pattern.

L'invention concerne une poignée (10) comprenant une couche externe (20) souple, compressible et déformable, reposant sur une structure de support (30) sous-jacente suffisamment rigide pour maintenir l'orifice de réception (12) de la poignée (10) ouvert. Ladite structure de support (30) permet de faciliter la manipulation de la poignée (10) et son assemblage sur un article à main, tout en évitant que la couche externe (20) ne se replie sur elle-même, comme ce serait le cas s'il n'y avait pas de structure de support (30), en raison de la nature souple et déformable de la couche externe (20). La poignée (10) peut être formée séparément de l'article à main sur lequel elle est destinée à être assemblée, puis placée sur l'article de façon que ce dernier soit vendu avec ladite poignée (10) pré-assemblée. Si on le souhaite, la poignée (10) peut être obtenue séparément de l'article à main, la couche externe (20) fournissant une surface d'amortissement souple facilement compressible et déformable et la structure de support (30) facilitant l'insertion de la couche externe (20) sur au moins une partie d'un article à main. La couche externe (20) et la structure de support (30) peuvent être co-moulées de façon que les matériaux des deux éléments soient définitivement et directement fixés ensemble. Si on le souhaite, un motif (50) comprenant des rainures, des alvéoles, des nervures, des bosses, un motif en treillis, ou un motif en nid d'abeille, par exemple, peut être formé sur ladite couche externe (20).
