This document serves as a request for a patent for an invention called the 'Gritzer'. Anyone living and driving in slippery conditions (i.e. winter) knows how treacherous it is to drive on icy streets, especially after a snowfall and before the graters have scooped up the snow or the sanders have sprayed sand to aid in traction. This invention aims to give any driver the tools needed to produce added traction in inclement weather conditions. The patent sought is for the idea of affixing a device that will spray sand or other traction aiding commodities/aggregate in the tires' vicinity of vehicle tires. Note that this invention may be subject to regulatory approvals of the authorities having jurisdiction of the vehicle's registration in much the same way as studded or chained tires are not permitted to be used everywhere; or the mandatory requirement to have a block heater installed on vehicles registered in Alberta; or the restrictions on the use of air brakes within some city limits. It is assumed that the appropriate jurisdiction will take care of the sand (or other commodity) cleanup as needed (if the device becomes widespread in usage), just as they do now with government sanctioned sanding vehicles. Communication / coordination will therefore be imperative between widespread distribution of this product and acceptance in municipalities/provinces.
