The invention relates to a ground drilling apparatus for putting in or expanding bore holes in the ground using a drill bit arranged at the free end of a drill pipe. The drill pipe along with a hydraulic hammer drive and/or hydraulic rotary drive are mounted on a mounting track. The track is provided on a vertically pivotable mounting carriage which itself is mounted on a caterpillar or track vehicle base. On the vehicle base or on the mounting carriage, there is provided an electric motor driven hydraulic unit in the immediate vicinity of the hydraulic drill bit drive.
