GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTER WITH IMPROVED MEANS FOR GROUNDED NEUTRAL DETECTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a ground fault interrupter of the differential transformer type where a grounded neutral protection means is provided that includes an additional transformer having a primary winding connected between the line and neutral conductors of the system and a secondary winding that is the neutral conductor, with the core of the second transformer selected to become saturated during each half cycle of an AC voltage wave, this invention improves performance and permits use of small size elements by selection of the second core material to be one exhibiting a square hysteresis loop, such as one having a ratio of remanent to saturated flux density of at least 0.8.
