A ground penetrating radar system which includes a receiver which generates a trigger signal, a transmitter which, in response to the trigger signal, generates an output pulse which is directed into the ground, the receiver being adapted to receive a signal which is reflected from the ground in response to the output pulse, and means for processing the received reflected signal.
