ABSTRACT An improved grounding detection circuit includes an intrinsically safe circuit connected to a grounding clip for grounding vehicles and container during the transfer and storage of combustible materials. The intrinsically safe circuit includes grounding loop for verifying that the grounding clip and the intrinsically safe circuit are grounded. The intrinsically safe circuit transmits a signal to an optoisolator when the container is grounded, and the optoisolator, in turn, transmits an energization signal to relay circuitry, to energize a relay coil. A capacitor in series with a resistor are connected across the relay coil to minimize the inductive effect of the relay coil on the optoisolator.
