A grounding strap for use in electrostatic discharge protected areas comprises a band (12) to fit around a wrist or arm, and a buckle (16) which has a grounding stud (14). The electrical path for electrostatic charges goes from the skin, via a conductive buckle insert (18), the band and the stud (14) to ground. To achieve a simple adjustable strap, one end of the band is secured to the buckle and the other end of the band passes through the buckle to emerge as a tab, with the band loop size being adjustable solely by drawing the band through the buckle. The buckle incorporates means to restrain the band from slipping.
