ABSTRACT Novel growth hormone releasing factor analogs in which glycine at position 15 is replaced by alanine, leucine, valine, isoleucine, norleucine, norvaline, .beta.-alanine or .alpha.-aminoisobutyric acid and pharmaceutical compositions containing them demonstrate enhanced potency for the release of growth hormone and can be administered to humans suffering from a deficiency of growth hormone and to animals in order to promote their growth. The compounds are prepared by conventional methods such as solid phase peptide synthesis.
