- 9 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a system for guaranteeing the genuineness of high-value merchandise such as objects of art, wherein each such article is registered in a host computer which is designed to issue upon such registration a magnetic card, for example, bearing certain specific matters of such article and, when necessary, the article and the magetic card are collated with the registered information in the host computer through a computer terminal designed to respond to said magnetic card so as to check whether or not the article is registered and whether or not it is exactly the same one that was registered.
