ABSTRACT A guard for protecting the shackle of a padlock used for locking a locking device in the engaged position comprises a U-shaped member having plate limbs, the shackle being received in the space between the limbs to be protected by the limbs against cutting by means of a tool such as a saw, a file or a bolt clipper. A pin is received through openings in the plate limbs and the shackle is received through a transverse aperture in the pin. The pin is substantially flat in cross section and is curved in its longitudinal direction defining a concave edge directed outwardly towards the free ends of the limbs when the device is in engaged position. Outward force on the padlock causes the pin to urge the limbs of the U-shaped member together.
