The invention concerns a guide structure for guiding a lift for the transport ofpersons or goods, which comprises two column-like guides (10), at which a cage (5) with own drive runs and is guided, wherein the guide (10) is constructed as carrying element. An extruded lightweight metal section, the structured cross- section of which comprises planar guide surfaces, anchoring grooves, guide grooves and a brake limb, is used as guide (10). Furthermore, the interior with counterweight (18) and buffers is accessible for assembly and maintenance by means of a removable maintenance lid. The guides (10) are connected by means of groove strips and connecting strips with one another, with the foundation module (12) and with the head module (13).
