Systems and methods for positioning a first guidewire (25) in a primary vessel (M) and a second guidewire (27) in a branch vessel (B). One embodiment comprises an introducer (10) having first (12) and second lumens (14) adapted to slidably receive the first guidewire within the first lumen and the second guidewire within the second lumen. One method embodiment includes inserting the first guidewire into the main vessel, introducing the introducer over the first guidewire, and inserting the second guidewire within the second lumen such that the second guidewire extends into the branch vessel. The introducer is withdrawn while maintaining the first and second guidewires in the respective vessels.

Cette invention concerne des systèmes et des méthodes permettant de positionner un premier fil de guidage (25) dans un vaisseau primaire (M) et un second fil de guidage (27) dans un vaisseau secondaire (B). Selon un mode de réalisation, on trouve un dispositif d'insertion (10) qui comporte une première (12) et une seconde (14) lumière conçues pour recevoir le premier fil de guidage et le second fil de guidage, respectivement. Une des méthodes selon l'invention consiste à introduire le premier fil de guidage dans le vaisseau principal, à emboîter le dispositif d'insertion sur le premier fil de guidage, puis à introduire le second fil de guidage dans la seconde lumière de sorte que ledit second fil de guidage pénètre à l'intérieur du vaisseau secondaire. Il suffit alors de retirer le dispositif d'insertion tout en maintenant les premier et second fils de guidage dans leurs vaisseaux respectifs.
