A unit for automatically guiding a vehicle along a rail consists of an arm (2) hingedly mounted by means of a universal joint on the end (3) of the chassis. The arm (2) includes at its front end means for rolling (7, 8) on the rail (9) in the form of a pair of rollers (35, 36) mounted in a V configuration and encompassing the rail (9) by lateral rolling engagement along each of its flanks. Armraising means, a mechanical coupling with the vehicle's steering mechanism and various sensors are also provided. The invention is primarly applicable in the manufacture of urban public transport vehicles.

L'ensemble d'autoguidage le long d'un rail se compose d'un bras (2) articulé à la cardan sur l'extrémité (3) du chassis, ledit bras (2) présentant à son extrémité avant des moyens de roulement (7,8) sur le rail (9) sous la forme d'un couple de deux galets (35,36) disposés en "V" enserrant le rail (9) par appui latéral de roulement le long de chacun de ses flancs. Des moyens de levage du bras, une liaison mécanique avec le mécanisme de direction du véhicule et divers capteurs sont en outre prévus. Cette invention intéresse plus particulièrement les constructeurs de véhicules de transport urbain en commun.
