ABSTRACT A manually operated pump, the housing of which defines relatively spaced underlying pump chambers respectively communic- ating with inlet and outlet passages, includes a hollow piston assembly having interconnected pistons reciprocable in the res- pective pump chambers, the piston assembly providing a connecting passage between the respective chambers. Check valve means are associated with the piston assembly and the inlet passage res- pectively for preventing backflow of fluid. One of the pump chambers is adapted for at least partial reception in a container for a flowable product to be dispensed while the other chamber is supported at a location externally of the container. A return spring normally urges the piston assembly inwardly toward the container, while an operating lever connected to the piston assembly between the respective pump chambers is arranged to urge the piston assembly outwardly from the container.
